[OST SPOTLIGHT] Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw (2000)

Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw is one of the most popular and well-loved romantic comedy movie released in 2000. This was the first team-up of “Asia’s Songbird” Regine Velasquez and Philippine Cinema’s “Bad Boy” Robin Padilla. The movie is about Gimo Talumpati (Robin Padilla), an auto mechanic who won a special date with Francine Natra (Regine Velasquez), a popular singer. As Gimo re-introduced Francine to the joy of living an ordinary life, they fell in love — putting her showbiz career at risk.

The Platinum-selling movie soundtrack consists of 13 tracks including the themesong “Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw,” composed by Ogie Alcasid. The song won Best Movie Theme Song at the 49th FAMAS Awards, Movie Theme Song of the Year at the 17th PMPC Star Awards for Movies and received 5 awards at the 23rd Awit Awards namely: Song of the Year, Best Ballad Recording, Best Movie/ TV/ Stage Theme Song Recording and Best Performance By A Female Recording Artist.  Check out the track listing below:

Daniel Padilla’s “Sabay Natin” Themesong for “The Love Story of Kang Chi (Gu Family Book)”

Daniel Padilla’s song “Sabay Natin” from his second album DJP is the local theme song for ABS-CBN’s latest South Korean drama, The Love Story of Kang Chi (Gu Family Book). The 2013 action historical drama stars Korean heartthrob Lee Seung Gi (My Girlfriend is a Gumiho) and one of Kpop’s prettiest female idol, Bae Suzy (Dream High). The Love Story of Kang Chi (Gu Family Book) will air starting on Monday, August 19 5:00pm.

Aside from hearing Daniel Padilla’s “Sabay Natin” when The Love Story of Kang Chi premieres on Kapamilya Gold next week, the song has already debuted at #10 on M.O.R. 101.9 Biga-10 and can now be requested on radio to bring it on top of the charts.

Daniel Padilla will be seen next on the romantic TV series, Got To Believe with Kathryn Bernardo starting on August 26 at ABS-CBN.

Yeng Constantino’s “Chinito” Inspired By A Hit TV Series Character

Pop-rock singer Yeng Constantino visited ABS-CBN’s morning show, Umagang Kay Ganda recently to promote her latest hit single “Chinito” from her new album Metamorphosis.

During the interview, she revealed that “Chinito” is the only song which she didn’t wrote for the album. It was written by her friend, Jed Dumawal who was inspired by the character of Shan Cai played by Barbie Hsu from the 2001 hit TV series Meteor Garden and it was then titled ‘Chinita.’

We’re only halfway through 2013 but “Chinito” can already be considered as one of this years biggest release as it took the #1 spot on MYX Hit Charts for 4 weeks (June 2 – 23), #1 on Pinas FM 95.5 for 6 weeks (June 13 – July 25) and still reigning at #1 on the newly-launched station M.O.R 101.9 (Tambayan 101.9) for 3 consecutive weeks now (July 24 – Aug 10). Meanwhile, her single “Sandata” is already #1 on Pinoy MYX Countdown and will soon be climbing local radio charts.
