SONY MUSIC ARTISTS SING FOR THE STREET CHILDREN | Philstar.com

The Philippine Star | November 16, 2009

MANILA, Philippines – Sony Ericsson has launched a campaign to help get street children off the streets and back into schools. The mobile phone maker is supporting the UNICEF Mobile Education and Child Protection Program for Street Children through I-Share Ang Saya. The project features a showcase of communication entertainment possibilities from new phones and a chance to get involved by downloading the campaign’s theme song.

Sony Ericsson commissioned pop rock band Itchyworms to compose a theme that would engage listeners to help the cause. The upbeat and catchy Let’s Be Happy Mga Kids was composed in a matter of weeks. It got the attention of other Sony Music artists (La Diva, Dino Concepcion of Brownman Revival, Ney Dimaculangan of 6Cyclemind, Juana lead vocalist Jaq Dionisio, Ely Buendía, Luke Mejares, Callalily’s Kean Cipriano, Letter Day Story’s lead singer Dex Yu and Gloc 9) who pitched in by freely giving their time and voices to the project.

The recent passing of Jackson caused by cardiac arrest at the age of 50 prompted Luke to once again dedicate a special evening to honor the fallen pop legend.

Unlike last year’s show where Luke assumed MJ’s persona by incorporating the icon’s signature pop music to his own brand of R&B, this event promises to be more intense and heartfelt as Luke pays homage to Jackson’s music and enduring legacy.
